Errol is a man of many alter-egos, but best known as Dextrous and best known for his ground-breaking work in the composition of the documentary, Feltham Sings, for which he and Stage 1000 were awarded the prestigious Ivor Novello award.
Although Dex hasn't got anything in the way of a musical qualification, his work is appreciated the world over by millions of music fans. Most notably his work on Feltham Sings, a documentary programme made for Channel Four in 2002 involving members of the Young Offenders' Institution, caused quite a stir in the industry and resulted in him receiving the composer's Ivor Novello Award that year (Stage 1000 received the Publisher / Production Award). He was also nominated for a Royal Television Society award. He has had the pleasure of working with Jamiroquai on a remix of M-Beat's track "Do You Know Where You're Coming From" and performed "It's Too Late" live on stage with Dina Carroll. He is also one third of the trio, Solid State. He lists Herbie Hancock, James Brown and Stevie Wonder as some of his influences and with the music he's created, I'm sure all of the above would be impressed with his contribution to the industry. Currently, however, he hasn't got much in the way of plans involving music but enjoys days out with his children, following Spurs, playing football, eating out, getting the occasional pampering and treating himself to bas of fizzy cherry cola bottles. He's never been a fan of WAGs and It girls and can't stand narcissistic people, has a special dislike of George Bush [who doesn't? (Ed)] and is always frustrated with the sheer volume of roadworks he comes across in the UK. His ambition is to build a house by the sea in the Dominican Republic, where we're sure he'll happily feed his one sinful habit - drinking Wray & Nephew white rum!For more info on Dex's work with Solid State, click over to the group profile. |
